Sara Abbasian is a Master of Applied Science (M.A.Sc.) Student in Civil Engineering at York University, supervised by Dr. Mojgan Jadidi, with a research focus on BIM-enabled strategies for sustainable construction and demolition (C&D) waste management. Since her undergraduate studies, she has worked on advancing sustainability in the built environment by integrating digital technologies into engineering workflows. Her work includes co-authoring an ASCE book chapter on Digital Twin applications for improving building energy and carbon performance. Currently, she is developing BIM-RISE, a data-driven, BIM-based framework that supports waste forecasting, material recovery planning, and circular-economy reporting through automated analysis and actionable dashboards. Through this research, she aims to help the construction industry reduce environmental impacts, optimize resource use, and transition toward more resilient and efficient practices.
